The Feather 442 from Coleman

Coleman offer a bigger range of stoves than any other manufacturer, and they hold an enviable reputation for simple functionality and excellent build quality. The Feather 442, one of their most popular multi-fuel stoves, certainly maintains that reputation. It is a very compact and relatively lightweight stove capable of running on unleaded petrol or coleman liquid fuel. The three fold-out feet make it extremely sturdy on rough or soft ground, and the four way fins that support the pan are very secure even with a full saucepan of water. The Feather 442's really innovative feature is Coleman's cunning 'Reflex technology' (which is used in several other stoves in the Exponent range). This has completely removed the need for the messy, time-consuming and often ineffective priming process necessary with numerous other multi-fuel stoves on the market, which is the major downside of these otherwise practical stoves. The Feather 442 is extremely easy to light, and will always ignite first time if the pre-ignition pumping process is carried out correctly.

The only slight disadvantage with this stove is the need to take an extra fuel bottle if going on a longer trip, since the built-in fuel reservoir in the stove itself only holds enough fuel for a couple of days. Otherwise, this is an outstanding little stove that runs perfectly on petrol without the soot and grunge associated with this genre of stoves. It also represents fantastic value for money at an RRP of 69.95 compared to many of the more expensive but much less efficient mutli-fuel stoves on the market.
