The Slovenian Adventure Race comes to a close, with a good battle for 1st place. British and Irish teams both perform well.
The Slovenian race is now becoming quite famous for its fast and adventurous racing, and usually in good weather. The race is a reasonably short 50 hours for the elite Explorer class, and the field hosted some great teams this year.
The race featured a lot of different sports, including caving, rollerblading and a mean 1km swim. The variety sports and the frequency of transitions seemed to keep the pace high, and the race full of tactical decisions to make.
The winning team were Salomon-suunto/Opava Net/Nutrend, who finished the course with a little under an hour to spare in 49h:04. Closely followed by Team CZ AR team Berghaus/Nutrend/Merida. Both catchy team names for sure, but teams certainly full of talent.
British Team Endurance Life finished 8th of 16 starters, with Irish Team Leave No Trace taking 10th place.
Head over to the race website http://www.adventurerace.si to have a look over the course, and maybe get signed up for next year. Not convinced? Take a look at the pictures on the Facebook page. Sunshine, Adventure, and Mountains I bet few of us have ever explored before.
